His videos average around 2K views now. I started a Youtube in the summer (I didn't advertise, or get my friends to join, and only posted 4 videos) and I have 500+ views on video. That's more than a tenth. Done.

you are cherry picking data, these latest masterpieces have not yet had time to filter through the interment to the BYP's legions of fans, look at this one here which disproves your outlandish claims, 173K views, you mamas boys cant touch that.

I'm choosing the most recent ones because its more fair seeing as i just started youtube, didnt promote my channel, and didn't have thousands of subscribers to start with, since i had a limited amount of time

28 K subscribers, twenty eight thoooooooousand subscribers, read it and weep my illustrious friend, read n weep!

I couldn't begin to match the number or intensity of connections Jim Jones made.

That doesn't make Jones' preaching correct.

The fact that he has that many subs, but like 2000 views on the recent vids says something

BYP teaches via "pure humanity"?

You want to talk about impractical...

Ok, so I (very) briefly looked at a video of his from 2018.

One reason I'm not impressed is he's reading it straight out of an annotated game collection.

Sure he ad libs, but I think something people often forget is that good moves usually look good. I mean, I could look at some complex brilliant Kasparov game, and yeah, most moves will look good to me, and I could even make up some plausible sounding reason why each move is good.

99% of the time chess isn't hard because good moves are hidden. Chess is hard because bad moves look good too. So if you take some move like Nb1-c3 and say "ah yes, development" you've actually said nothing. Even a beginner like BYP could say that. What makes it a GM move (and a GM level lesson) is why other good looking moves weren't played.

So he's essentially fanboying over a chess games, which is totally fine, and fun, and it's what (I hope) most of his fans watch him for. Unfortunately he still markets it as a lesson.

That would be fine if I was making a logical argument.  What you refer to is argumentum ad populum, many believe it therefore it is, but I am not , I am issuing a challenge.  Where is your content? make with the content? etc etc

"I am not referring to argument ad populum, I'm challenging you to attract an audience"

umm, ok.

So you're saying his videos have merit because attracting an audience is not automatic. Sure, he's charismatic. Most (all?) scam artists are. I don't think anyone is saying he's not a scam artist.

2K is not too shoddy, ok its nowhere near his days of glory, but it's a beginning.

The fact is that none of his subscribers watch his vids anymore...…….

I think that's pretty common when people take a long break.

Also from a few channels like his I've seen (where it's personality driven, not content) this seems to be common. I guess it has low replay value (if you've seen him gush over one chess move you've seen them all).

Avatar of st0ckfish

idk, his fried liver video was interesting, apparently after

Black is completely dominating

Avatar of llamonade2

In his infamous fried liver video the frequency and degree of his errors is truly jaw dropping.

I haven't seen it in years, but I recall gems like "____ is ahead in material" when simple counting proves it to be the opposite.

Avatar of st0ckfish

also, in the game above, when he was down a pawn, he was like "Imma power up" and [The player with] White doesn't understand how to play chess.

Avatar of llamonade2

Yeah. I've always thought it'd be fun to make a review of that video where the screen is divided vertically. The 2/3rd on the left would be the unedited BYP video, and the 1/3rd on the right reserved for text that explains every error he makes.

Avatar of st0ckfish

That would go viral in the chess community xD

Avatar of llamonade2

Haha, maybe.

I'm sure legions of his fans would take deep offense.

"You're missing the point, he's not pretending to teach!"

(meanwhile he calls himself professor, his video descriptions talk about what's being "taught" and the entire tone and structure of the presentation is a lecture)

youtube changed its policy, you have to actively ask to be notified of new content now, once they learn, he gonna be smokin like before.

You so jealous.

Avatar of llamonade2

I'm not jealous of his 7 year old garbage video.

Scrolling through the youtube comments I found one from pfren though haha.

Something like "this is so bad that at times it even becomes funny"
