What should a 10-11 year old's rating be?

When Gukesh turned world champion, prime minister Modi congratulated him personally.

India also pays their chessplayers very well; GM Hikaru complained about that recently.

People from India love chess.

So yeah an eight year old from India already deep into chess doesnt sound so unlikely.

What should a 10-11 year old's rating be? I really don't know. I am in that category and have a very high 1400 standard but I don't play on that much. I play more on my blitz ten min. games which my rating is 1000.

Their rating should be 2050 USCF.

There’s no "should" when it comes to rating at 10-11 years old—everyone improves at their own pace! That said, here’s a rough guide:

Beginners (Just learning) → <800

Casual players (Plays sometimes) → 800-1000

Club level (Knows openings, tactics) → 1000-1400

Competitive juniors (Plays in tournaments) → 1400-1800+

If your standard rating is 1400 but blitz is 1000, it just means your slower, deeper thinking is stronger than your quick decisions. That’s totally normal! If you want to improve in blitz, work on tactics, time management, and pattern recognition.

It's a bird, it's a plane, no it's stupidman!!! First of all, I've played 15 games here so my 1600 rating means exactly nothing. What would YOU know about cheating with your highest rating being a measly 1300? Plenty of 1600 players have been "banned" from here for cheating. You don't know a thing. On my last account I was 1800-1900 rapid and faced numerous cheats including 3 in a 6 game stretch and 1 of them (drum roll!) was a 1600. Rapid here is infested with engines at higher levels (not that you would know) and I've played over 1400 games on lichess and faced 1 cheater so I'm pretty confident there's more here. They handle cheating way better over there and even restore your rating after the cheater is marked.

The only people cheating is your wife on you

If you are doing that well at that 11 years old, then you are doing great!

The skills that chess is teaching you can be used later on in school.

For example, the coordinates (e4, a2, etc.) on the chessboard are similar to the coordinate system in classes like algebra, trigonometry, calculus, etc. as well as in programming.
