Maybe it's because camels always stay on squares of the same colour, and they didn't want to change that.

When I castle a king and rook on 14x14 chess, the pieces move where they are supposed to, on the l1 and m1 squares. but if I castle with any other type of royal piece, they castle on the i1 and j1 squares.. Why is this? I noticed sometimes the king only moves two squares when castling instead of going to the very edge squares as well.. Please just allow us to set what squares we go to when we castle kingside or queenside on variant modes
