The winner of "captaintugwash vs. gyrados06" will earn the right to challenge Naviary for the crown. At the completion of the game I'll contact Naviary to confirm if he intends to play or not. If Naviary doesn't play he will forfeit the crown, so the challenger becomes the new World Champion. (I'll allow Naviary two weeks to reply at that time).
I'm not sure how long this game will last, and I also don't know when Naviary's mission is finished. So we'll see what happens at that time.
In any case, I believe Naviary intends to eventually return to chess. He has the crown now, but he can lose it, and he can also win it back.😀
Btw, based on the agreed tournament format (discussed page 22 in (this game)) Tug currently has WC privileges because he had a "draw by agreement" in "Naviary vs. Tug". World Champions defend as White, so in "Tug vs. Gyrados" White goes to captaintugwash. (Incidently, I believe Tug has played at least four other games, and always played as Black, and won all four games. I'm aware of two games played by gyrados, and he alternated colors).

Btw, I've been in touch with Naviary (by email). He is mostly dedicated to his work in Canada, but he asked about the status of this game series, so I explained it to him. While doing his missionary work he doesn't play on-line games or use social media. But he said he enjoys reading and replying to emails every Monday. If anyone has a message for him I'll be happy to relay it.
