a guard is 4, not 3
Optimal Bulldog
I don't think anyone knows for sure, because it hasn't been studied as much as normal chess pieces. The guard might be worth a little more than 3 (more than a knight or bishop), but I don't think by much. I don't think it's worth 4, but maybe 3.5?

the king is worth 4 in an endgame
so a guard is worth 4
I like it. I've learned that guards have a value of about 3 points. This means that each player has six pieces with the same value: 2 knights, 2 bishops, and 2 guards. This could be interesting to play.
