Event Chu - dax00 v evert823

Avatar of dax00

This is a game of event chu shogi to be played between dax00 (sente) and @evert823 (gote). Event chu shogi is played like regular chu shogi (see rules here)...

Clarifications to normal rules:

  • Go-betweens can promote on the 12th rank on a non-capture, in addition to regular promotion, like pawns.
  • If 199 consecutive moves are played without captures nor promotions, the game is automatically drawn.

... except for the following:

  • Each player can start an event on his own turn before making his move, simply by saying "start event".
  • A player must start an event before he has captured more than 90 points in material.
  • A third event can be started, if a player says "start event", after having captured at least 360 points in material.

Events will be randomly chosen from over 70 events, each of which alters the rules of the game in some way. If an event is chosen that is incompatible with previously chosen events, a new event will be chosen to replace it. Each game will normally consist of 2 events, with a maximum of 3 events.

There's a much better way of playing against my normal opening fare that nobody else has figured out yet. Only one person has come even remotely close. It seems that for any given player, they're convinced a move is good that actually sucks for some positional reason, play that same move over and over in the same position, and get duly crushed because of it (among other reasons). I like openings that force my opponent to demonstrate proper move order, prioritization, and a sense of timing. Something that absolutely does not allow laziness.

Slow, yet urgent.
