Fischer960 + 3-check: evaluations and best 1st moves

Intresting variant!
Yeah, some Fischer's positions, like #2 above with evaluation +0.6, are significantly more balanced (and, consequently, more appropriate for 3-check) than the standard 3-check with evaluation around +2.

I noticed the same thing after I played in a small Three Checks 960 correspondence tournament on Scheming Mind last year. After the tournament was over (not during it!) I used Stockfish on the Li Chess analysis board to study the games, and it was obvious that most 960 positions significantly reduce White's advantage. The standard position was evaluated at about +3.0 whereas the 960 positions varied between about +1.5 and +2.2. I looked at a few other starting positions and found some with a lower evaluation, eg RBBQKNNR (+0.6) and RNNKQBBR (+0.8) - still higher than the standard position in standard chess (about +0.4) but much more acceptable.

Nice, I'm glad that U confirm it. 👍
It is possible to combine Fischer960 and 3-check variant. 😎 Stockfish understands combined Shredder-FEN codes.
Example: bbnnqrkr/pppppppp/8/8/8/8/PPPPPPPP/BBNNQRKR w HFhf - 0 1 +0+0
Fischer's positions will be listed by their bishop's positions + lexicographical order.
