The difference between standard chess and crazyhouse is that in crazyhouse when you capture a piece the piece changes color, and you can place it on any empty square as one of your own pieces. You can place pawns on any empty square on the second through to the seventh rank. If a pawn promotes and is captured it reverts back to a pawn. You can only castle using your original rooks.
