I made a blog about a variant that hopefully gets added to Chess.Com

IMO this is not a chess variant (as opposed to Capablanca chess with p). Merely an alternative tournament format, but the underlying game here is pure FIDE chess.
You didn't change any inherent FIDE rule, didn't add any variant piece.
We could apply this format to KOTH, Shogi or Chess960. We would re-use an archived game of that variant, and agree that two strong players start from the so-many-th move.
But that would essentially still be KOTH, Shogi or Chess960.
Having said this, I'm not criticizing the idea presented here. Could be fun.
