(Tip 2,do not let him get within the 2 square radius of your king as he can make a dash for it and capture your king)

GG. Thank you for teaching me this game. Your tip helped me. I'd have no chance without it.

I have some questions about rules in monster chess. In particular about en-passant. When is it possible? For example, if white moves c4-c5-c6, can black take b6xc5? Or if white moves f2-f4-f5, can black take g4xf3?

no and no

StormCentre3

The second example given- yes.

Black can take ep.on f3. It stands to reason as all rules of chess apply. ep occurs after a pawn moves from the starting 2nd rank.

The 1st example is an outlier. Not seen in regular chess. No ep occurs but for the 3rd rank capture.

The best strategy is for Black to bring out the Queen early and infiltrate behind Whites King. The last game White made a mistake- was overly ambitious with the pawns. You figured it out and played well. GL

standard chess rule states that enpassant can only happen when the pawns are beside each other,so if it is f2 f4 and another random move it can be enpassant

so yeah, there is no en passant

StormCentre3

Wrong. En passant occurred.

StormCentre3

A viable technical scenario. One not governed under any specific rule. En passant possibility occurred under standard chess rules. The pawn on f5 can be captured- does not bypass ep rule as it passed the g4 pawn.

I was afraid to bring out the Queen because I felt I needed it to protect my King.

When do you thin was your mistake?

All standard rules apply -

except for Blacks King can be captured - resulting in checkmate.

StormCentre3

Whites mistake was placing all pawns on the 4th - vulnerable for captures.
Black brings out the Q early and  can still run the a or h pawn. The Q checks from a safe distance behind.
