My idea for a chess variant

This variant is mostly the same as normal chess with a few differences:
When you would normally check a king, you instead "freeze" the king, making it unable to move and you cannot take the king, this means you have to be careful when checking the enemy king as they can still play any move, you have two win conditions:
-checkmate
-checking the king when they have no other pieces
The latter means the only auto-stalemate condition is both teams having only a king
So, what do you guys think? Should I make slight changes? What should I name the variation?
