I honestly just wanted to practice some blindfold lol
If you're using the mobile app, one of the piece sets has all invisible pieces. I used to use it a lot whenever I got tired of waiting forever on the variants page.
As far as I can tell, the only difference between playing blindfold and using the piece set is that your opponents will be able to see the board (which, I admit, is a pretty big difference). But if you're up for a bit more of a challenge, you could give it a shot.
I have been playing chess , with an extra 1/2 board on one side, along wth 2 extra rooks, and 2 extra knights ,and now regular chess is actually quite boring to me. The games become much more complex , and very quickly too. This variant usualy results in a longer ,more intense game , which is almost always more satisfying . I am hoping this will be THE variant that will catch on, not only because I am sure it is a better game, but because it is easier to learn than other variants since all the pieces and rules are the same as standard chess. All one needs to try it at home is two games of chess with equal size boards, with one that folds in 1/2 . Or if they are very flat , you could just slip 1/2 of one under the other.
I have set up the two rooks beside each other in the corners , and the knights beside each other ,next to the rooks as in standard chess. I think this is best since the rooks can protect each other best, and so can the knights.
I hope some of you will give it a try, so maybe we will see it here on this site, unless I create my own.
