Spell Chess Endgames
The first game should not have been checkmate: as white still has freezes he should be able to make (say) a Queen move, and freeze the black King. This should actually make him win.
The second game is interesting, though: white has no move to play there, but he has a freeze. Apparently it is not allowed to use the freeze without a move. I would have thought this is a stalemate rather than a checkmate.
In general, when you have a freeze, and the opponent none, you can chase his King into a corner with yours, and then check+freeze for a checkmate.
In spell chess, most players do not get to endgames, with middlegame and opening traps flying all over the board, but lets say if you do, somehow, get to an endgame, I found a trick to pull the Uno reverse card on your opponents if you are losing. When you are down in material, get your king as close to your opponents as possible, and if they let you, freeze their king and step in (the kings touch) and chess.com gives you the win for checkmating your opponent, 2 examples are:
