I might have to convert one of black's queens to a rook, then.
Or, if the safe path is very narrow for both sides, it may be this just doesn't work.

That might not be enough extra material to give black compensation for the exposed king.
With the rook, analysing to depth 37, Stockfish evaluates it as +0.75 for white, not that much more uneven than the standard starting position. I might go with that.
You might also toss in an extra pawn or two for black.

resuming is the word I think you were looking for, but I enjoy adding words to my vocabulary. Un-quitting, would have 2 t's. "Littler" is one of my favorites, it makes my wife smile....Women tend to find littler things cute....
