ROFL!!!
battle-tank chess

But isn't that a little unfair for black? To even the odds, I suggest that you should let black go first.

do you have a 1,000+ page book on opening theory for this game?
also I want a copy of a game engine that can play this game, engine must be rated at least 10,000 ELO.
also I want a game database with every game that has been played since the beginning of time.
I will then lock myself away in a room and study for 9 years.
Only then will I risk playing a game, I am terrified that I might lose 3 ELO points.

I introduce 1-dimensional chess, 1-dimensional chess 960, 0-dimensional chess and 0-dimensional chess 960.

I introduce 1-dimensional chess, 1-dimensional chess 960, 0-dimensional chess and 0-dimensional chess 960.
I-dimensional regular chess is just plain boring, but make it 1-dimensional chess 960, and the possibilities become endless!

1. a4!! a5!! 2. Ka2!! Ka7!! 3. Ka1!! Ka6!! 4. Ka2!! Ka5!! 5. Ka3?? Ka6!! (avoiding a draw--white resigns!)

White starts the game with TWO EXTRA QUEENS (these queens cannot be captured and simply just run over all the other pieces--hence, they are battle TANKS!).
This is a bad variation, since it is a mate in two.
1. Qf6 and regardless of Black's move it is mate.

@Poryg
newengland7 forgot to mention that the king can teleport to any square on the board.
1. Qf6 Nc6
2. Qxf7+ Ka4!!

This might be a more interesting 1d setup, though still no less predictable.
the only possible white move is Rx5, which continues Rx5 Rx5 Rx5 Qx5 Qx5 and it's mate. So black wins no matter what
