You don't have to be premium. It is only available in correspondence on v2 and on v3 it is also available on Live.
When you create a challenge you just have to change the game type.

I havent tried it on version 3 in a while, maybe its better and you can actually get opponents now. I know you can find opponents at lichess, and suggest going there when you want to play 960 live.

I wasn't able to do it.
Which were you unable to do?
Every time I go back to see if now there are finally people playing 960 in version 3, it takes me 5+ minutes to remember how to access 960 once I switch to version 3. Its no wonder no one is using it. No one will ever use it unless they unbury it. Lichess does it right, go there for 960 live.
Anyone with half a brain can find 960 in 2 seconds. If you prefer some other site, go there but quit adverising it here.
@Batgirl - I'm not affilliated with lichess in any way. I do love playing 960 there, so I recommend it when the subject comes up, just like I recommend another site for tactics problems. This site is fantastic for correspondence style play, and also good for live standard play, but that doesnt mean its great for everything.
Insulting my intelligence is totally unwarranted and rude. I dont use version 3, prefer version 2, and I just check version 3 every month or two because I'd like to see if I could play 960 here. And once I do find it, and it does take me a while, you cant actually get a game, there is no one there. That is a fact, and one I havent seen you address.
I want to play chess 960. Do I need to be a premium member or can i do it for free. If it is free how do I find it. Thank You.
