That is not the way rating systems work and here the glicko system is used which takes into account how uncertain any rating is. That feature is called the Rating Deviation (RD) and the higher it is, the more inaccurate the rating is.
A high RD will cause larger swings and even with two opponents with low RD values, the amount gained by one will not equal the amount lost by the other. I'm sure there are instances where that can happen but it isn't a feature of the rating process.

Hello, is there an economist in the room?
I've been playing crazyhouse for years on other sites and I'm very grateful chess.com finally implemented it. I found my rating to be overrated of about 300 points compared to the other sites. This left me thinking : do i turn green, tear my shirt and become Hulk every time i connect here or is there another reason ?
The pool being new and not very big yet, ratings can get a little erratic until they settle in the next months but why?

But the elo-rating is an open system as for every new player the pool adds 1200 pts to be shared or preyed upon by stronger predators (or whatever the initial rating is). If it's not a game of constant sum, it's a game of constant mean
Those 1200, are they random ? Are they based on your blitz rating? Why did Mr Elo decide to give adults 1499 to start with? (Thus kids get 1099 or 1199 which complicates my point, not even talking of provisional games where one one loses 2 pts and the other one wins 200).
I assume the curve of players will become a gaussian, centered on that average of 1200, and the more players the least jumps in each one's personal rating. How many 1100's for every Hikarus?
Am I correct, should I go to sleep, should I buy new shirts ?
