You could make an appointment with others and start a  960 1 day/move game and just play "live".. Got to agree somewhat on a timelimit and just play till mate in 1 hour or so. Play it with someone who is honest and agrees on finishing the game, and not leave in a bad position :)

So the only option is to make an agreement to "play fast" with an opponent?  Why even use this site then?  I could just call up a friend and tell him where my pieces are.

I recently discovered that lichess.org has live 960 and a substantial amount of people playing.

@Thornybranch: it's coming here too but its unclear when. But appearantly its popping up elsewhere too, so chess.com has to get it running asap (with good quality) in my opinion.
