I would be awesome at that game!  Says I the self proclaimed stratego champion of the world Money mouth

OK, I have listed all the proposals that were posted so far (only those that were described clearly enough for me to understand them, which is , admittedly, a tough condition to fulfill):

1. Allow each player to move TWICE on one occasion during the game. The player is free to chose the moment to do so (chris212121)

2. Allow players to take their own pieces. So if your own pawn, or other piece  is blocking your play, just take it like you would with your opponents piece. (chris212121)

3. Allow the queen to move like a knight as well. (Hyannis)

4. Allow the knight to jump over the boundaries of the board, and go back and forth to the virtual squares BESIDE the board. (chris212121)

5. Give each player a second queen. (Mitsurugi)

6. 5 minutes of chess, then 5 minutes of boxing, then 5 minutes of chess and so on. Knockout, stoppage or checkmate wins. (Mitsurugi)

7. Allow pawns to move backwards as well. (chris212121)

8. Allow pawns to promote to a second king. (kyleevon)

9. Allow players to pass when they prefer, i.e. not to move. (bcalmac)

10. A knight-queen is called an angel or amazon.  A rider is a piece that can move as a knight any amount of times in one row.  A rose is a ciecular rider.  An elephant is a queen+rose, which is very powerful.  So, my idea is to have one rose and one elephant for each side, and to replace one of the knights with an amazon and the other with a rider (markkong)

11. Step off one side of the board and pop up on the other side.  For example, knight b1 to c7 or Bishop from a2 to c8 continuing on to say e6.  It would be like the board was rolled up from end to end and side to side. (Joseph-S)

12. The Queen moves  similiar to the knight, only 3 moves in the diagonal or file and one to the side (Sangwin)

13. The King can move two squares in any direction accept, and heres the kicker, if adjacent to a K or B the king can thus assume that pieces move.  Like fleeing with the bishop, or getting on his horse  The Bishop or knight takes the kings square and the king can make any legal move the Bishop or Knight could of made from their repective starting squares.  Of course the king may not end up in check but may do this even if B or N are threatened (Sangwin)

So far for the moment. Any other proposals ???

Chris

Wow, this is awesome...too ad it doesn't let me play moves

xqsme

My pawn proposal not that difficult- to move back vertically or diagonally one place on first move only into any vacated square..simply an extra choice  similar to existing two places option on first move.

chris212121

You are right xqsme, I must have missed it while making the list. Next time I won't. 1000 xqss !

Thank you  Chris, it all adds to the fun ! And who knows ?!

cannons can move one square any direction but it will take two moves.  a cannon attacks a little box of 2 x 2 but you have to roll a die to figure out which of the four squares it would actually hit.  yeah, this is turning from a varient of chess into a cross of chess and world of warcraft.

your wrong. A cannon moves like a rook, but attacks by hopping over a piece horizontally or vertically and landing on the piece behind it.

There's too many fairy pieces as it is.

Even if a comp does solve chess it wont make a dif to us like dazbedford said introducing the new rules make chess more complex and then even gms won't be able to beat comps with these rules. in fact a player who knows all the rules will have a serious advantage play chess was built as a game representing a war of two armies capturing yur own pice? plz.

Lone_Bird960

I like Hyannis's proposal to allow the queen make knight moves!

chris212121

Hey there lone-bird! Thanx for reviving this 6 year old thread!

Lone_Bird960

You're welcome Chris :) What are friends for?

chris212121

Not just for reviving old threads....also to chat when the other one is sleepless in europe...

Lone_Bird960

well, I'm not great in the chat department so I revived your thread instead :)

chris212121

I will have to read back to see if I agree with you on that new rule ...there were other nice ones, I think

chris212121

The idea of having a second king is somehow attractive to me....

Lone_Bird960

No way! One king gives me enough headache already. Allow the pawns to move left and right is good idea.

chris212121

Athe second king would halve your headache...not double it.

You would have lost only ater both kings are mated...

Adding a Knight move to the Queen

That invented piece is dubbed the Amazon/Amazonia.

Not only does it not necessarily improve game, it's one of the more commonly used chess variant pieces.
