I am currently competing in an online chess.com 960 tournament but for some reason it will not let me castle queenside. I have competed in actual chess 960 tournaments at my local chess club and i am positive that im doing it correctly but it wont let me move the rook and king to the correct spaces. how can i do it?? please help.

I know you will think I am a jerk, but the most plausible explanation is that you did miss something here (maybe your club rules are different from chess.com's ?). Could you post the game here up to the point where you wish to castle ?

(Make sure to post a warning to not give analysis of the position because it would be against the rules)

Take a look at the following wiki page and look especially at the REQUIREMENTS section. I am sure you will find you are violating one of the rules of castling.

Thanks MelvinDoucet, I had no idea that you castle that way in 960 online. I can't believe I didn't know that

Yes, sometimes in Chess960 it is legal to castle by moving to a square where your K could otherwise just move legally, e.g. if your K starts on d1 and you want to castle Q-side.  For that reason online it is implemented in such a way that you must drag the K on top of the R.  That way you can input O-O-O the same way no matter what start position you have.
