I have a club Knight Forks Club. I started September 20 and now have 109 members. I work hard on the club make lots of events and games but I feel like I have to work to get each member. How could I get more people to join without me working so hard to get them?

I have a 500 member club with a similar issue -

Most of the activity that goes into the club is from the members in the club, if you have a lot of inactive members in a club, then the club will not remain active (which is part of the reason why my club is inactive.) You need active members who are actively participating in events along with admins who are making forums to keep the club active.

Somethings that I have noticed that clubs with a lot of members have is -

Daily puzzles, would you rathers, daily tournaments, vote chess, matches, fun types of tournaments (example: logo competition), membership events, daily puzzles, etc.

Good luck on your club!

I do daily puzzles in the club and 1 of my 4 admins is always working on growing the club and making it better. I also stated making a variants team and we do weakly tornaments. I have a group of about 30 very active member and the other members just play a little bit.

You grow club by watering it, and watering it, and watering it.

Water it daily and make sure it gets plenty of sun light

Sounds like a bunch of farmers at work here:

water and sunlight on a daily basis.

Makes sense! Craig

To grow your Chess.com club, focus on making it active and engaging, with regular events, clear communication, and a welcoming atmosphere.

Here's a breakdown of strategies to help your club thrive:

1. Make Your Club Active and Engaging:

Regular Activities:

Host tournaments (rated and unrated), daily matches, vote chess games, and fun activities like puzzles or would you rathers.

Team Matches:

Organize team matches with other clubs to foster friendly competition and interaction.

Keep it Fun:

Make your club a place where members enjoy spending time. Consider themed events, movie nights, or variant chess games.

Delegate:

Don't be afraid to delegate tasks to other members, especially for organizing tournaments or managing activities.

Stay Active:

Actively participate in the club's activities and encourage others to do the same.

2. Promote Your Club:

Elevator Pitch:

Craft a concise and compelling introduction to your club that you can easily share with potential members.

Invite Members:

Use the "Invite Member" link in the club's admin settings to send invitations.

Share Your Club:

Share your club's invitation link on social media or other platforms where chess players gather.

Promote Active Members:

Highlight and recognize active members to encourage continued participation and attract new members.

Don't Over-Invite:

Start with a manageable number of invitations (., 20) and focus on building a strong foundation before expanding.

3. Foster a Strong Community:

Be Welcoming:

Make new members feel welcome and encourage them to participate in club activities.

Be Respectful:

Maintain a positive and respectful environment in the club's chat and forums.

Encourage Participation:

Actively engage with members, answer their questions, and create a sense of community.

Recognize Achievements:

Acknowledge and celebrate members' achievements, both in tournaments and in general participation.

Delegate:

Have multiple people in leadership roles to handle various aspects of the club and ensure its smooth operation.

4. Manage Your Club Effectively:

Schedule:

Establish a consistent schedule for club activities to make it easier for members to plan and participate.

Transparency:

Be clear about your club's goals, rules, and how it operates.

Feedback:

Solicit feedback from members to identify areas for improvement and ensure that the club meets their needs.

Admin Settings:

Utilize the admin settings to manage invitations, update the club's link, and adjust other settings as needed.

By implementing these strategies, you can create a thriving Chess.com club that attracts and retains members, fostering a vibrant community of chess enthusiasts.
