What makes you want to join a club?

What are you looking for in a club and how are you finding clubs to join? Is it based on recommendations? 

Is the club currently active in team matches and vote chess?

Some clubs specialize in a particular opening/defense. Some clubs are national.

Everyone will probably have a unique answer to this because everyone looks for slightly different things in a club. Personally I will either need to have a fairly strong interest in the club, or know the super admin/admin personally (and often times, it is both). Otherwise, I feel that you would quickly end up with far too many clubs to be really active in (which is okay for some I guess: again it is preference). 

I'm kind of curious what prompted you to ask this question though. Are you researching before you decide to create a club yourself, or are you perhaps just interested in the different approaches people have?

Thank you for your reply. I am asking because I want to improve recruitment for the club I co-admin. I feel like the ”recruitment to new member” ratio is very low and should be improved, because I get one or two new members out of every 90-100 invitations.
