7 Day Trial Problem (And Warning)

I believe they will. I don't think they're shady or anything, just a mix up. I just wish I could hear back from somebody a bit sooner. That's a lot of money for me right now!

Ok, they reversed the charge, however I would still warn anybody about clicking on the 7 day trial button, as I was charged immediately on sign-up.
Thanks for putting up with my whining about it anyway.

i looked into this and you did a full signup, not the trial :) somehow there was confusion and you didn't go through the trial process - just normal signup.
anyway, this has been handled :)

Why do new members even get free membership for several days? And also, why does chess.com even ask for the credit number? My friend wanted to use up the free trial membership but was not allowed by his parents since it asked his credit card number since they thought it was suspicious. Anyways, chess.com is still a fantastic site and let's wish it a good future.

I would assume the reason it asks for credit card numbers is basically to avoid abusing the free-trial system. Otherwise people would just sign up over and over again for the trial. It also makes it easier for them to process your order (i.e. get your money!) if you decide you are hooked and want a real membership.
The free trial was great, once it was working. Just took awhile to get it going. I hope the link is fixed now so people don't get charged. I hope I made it clear that there was no difference between the link for the free trial and the link for a paid membership. It was not an error on my part. That needs to get fixed.
Anyway, I definately am hooked on the site. As you can see by my fancy new crown, I did get a gold membership, mostly for tactics trainer. I'm a little disappointed that chess mentor is not at least partially included (other than what's given to free members). That was what really got me hooked, but not enough to spend what I already pay for basic cable every month.

Warning to any free members that get an offer for the 7 day "free trial." I signed up and my card was charged instantly. I am waiting on feedback from support, but haven't heard anything yet. As far as I can tell there is no number to call, and I have to wait for an e-mail back.
It's nice being a legitimate member at all, but I really wasn't ready to shell out $48. In fact I've refrained from using the member only features until this gets sorted out.
