A Change For The Worse

No, it goes onto your clipboard, as if you'd highlighted some text and copied it.

Now, can we get the thread back on track please? Everyone praising my ideas? Wink

GMoney5097

Proof that I had the last post in the Hurt/Heal Thread!  Cool

GMoney5097

You can't hide behind your wall of lies forever, Nytik.

Maybe your great idea you suggested in this thread will save you...

Nytik

That's still not proof. I might have been playing along.

Besides... could we please keep on topic now? Thank you.

kco

I agree Nytik, have you post your idea on the wishlist #6 ? erik does read it there, is just to remind him.

-waller-

Nytik, did you create this thread or inherit it? ;)

kissinger

Well on the surface, the idea has merit, but we should appoint a committee(s) to study it and report back.........just thinking outloud............

Nytik

Presumably, kissinger, the 'committee' is the chess.com staff, who always look over things before implementing them! (Otherwise the site would be slightly crazy...)

kco- I have posted a link to this thread on the wishlist.

Nytik

Well, Catalyst, I believe here on chess.com the generally accepted term is OP. I have never, ever seen anyone say TS on this website.

dsarkar

If the original post is deleted, yours was #2 and you inherit it, why, delete the new #1 post, and let the 3rd poster inherit it! That way all the posts can be deleted gradually, and it is nobody's headache! Why overload chess.com staff with silly problems?

Nytik

Dsarkar, no matter how trivial, problems should be dealt with if possible. Erik informs me this is going to be implemented in the next update... so problem solved! Smile

GMoney5097

That's great news!  Now I can prevent any future inheritence!

Way to go, Nytty, getting the great erik to even listen to you!  An accomplishment in and of itself!

Nytik

First of all, never, ever call my Nytty.

Secondly, as you have said, I have full control over all admins. (The customer is always right! Surprised)

erik

how does this work in other forums? i'm not sure what the best behavior is.... just putting COMMENT DELETED doesn't necessarily make things make sense. but "inheriting" is certainly wrong.

we just want to make sure we do this the right way. :)

Nytik

Why not try something along the lines of:

"This post has been deleted by the user."

I forsee no problems.

GMoney5097

Nytty-Witty Wink, I think he means games like Hurt/Heal where rules are explained.  The topic just wouldn't make sense then...

(The famous, great person is always right!  Notice how I'm siding with erik, as always...)

Rob_Soul

Why not just kill the whole discussion? Thread gets removed. End of story.

If the OP (or TS - lol) wants to forget the whole thread ever existed, which they presumably do since they deleted their own post, then what's the harm in granting that wish?

If you're worried about other people's comments being erased, don't be... "Original Post Deleted" confuses things, and inheritance of posts confuses things even more, so the other comments become meaningless. And anyone who sits around reading their own posts over and over again needs help!  : )

Nytik

Well, sorry, Rob_Soul, but that's how it used to be, the chess.com community disagreed with it and here we are today. I would have preferred it to remain that way, but now that we are on this method, I may as well attempt to improve it as it stands.

Teja

I like dsarkar's lateral thinking solution (post #33) and his effort to introduce the domino effect in the forums - some topics really deserve the slow death Smile.

I actually like your solution best -- I'd previously requested the same thing, with the addition of a time-stamp and extension of similar functionality to edited posts.  That way forum posters don't necessarily have to stay on record, but there is at least some accountability.
