Annoying clock problem

It looks like I am having connection problems. And whenever my game is back working, after having been interrupted, my clock has lost a lot of time. In my last game the opponent's clock showed 0.00 sec, mine showed a few seconds, then the message about interruption, when the game returned, I had lost on time, while the opponent still had 2 secs left!! Is there a technical explanation for this, or is this because I want to play chess for free??

Is your internet connection stable in other use? Are you using a USB modem for example?

I am using iMac with wireless connection, but because of distance to the router I am now using a Netgear connection. I have seen others in this forum reporting about similar problems.
