Sometimes when a game is in a lost position, I might try to play on for a couple moves just in case my opponent gives me something back (not every time, other times I do just resign).

But those times I play on, I would end up not resigning at all, because I'm just like, I've already gone so far, might as well go all the way and let my opponent checkmate me, even if it means im shuffling my king back and forth between three squares lol.

I hope it's not too annoying to my opponents. I personally don't mind when my opponents don't resign because then I can practice conversion. But if people do think it's really annoying maybe I'll change this habit lol.

Anyway, curious if anyone else thinks like this, or if it's just me XD

Depends on what’s going on. There’s always a chance of a draw, but is it worth finishing out that game just to see if the opponent makes a mistake, or begin a new game and start fresh. In a tournament with points, I play to the end… in single rapid matches I might concede just to save myself the time investment.

Some will be annoyed by you not resigning. Some will be annoyed by you resigning. Some will be annoyed by your username. You can't please everyone.

Resignation option is there for you. You resign because you do not want to continue defending a position not worth defending. You do not do it to please (or avoid annoying) your opponent.

Thanks for that perspective, that makes a lot of sense grin.png

Do what is best to make yourself a better player, dont worry about your opponents feelings.

It's the best tactic when compared to the alternatives.

Don't ask me to resign cause I start playing my best when there is no hope.

Yeah that makes sense. Someone much better than me told me that there is value in trying to defend lost positions, so perhaps to some extent, "don't resign" is actually good advice chesswise.
Though I may start resigning once it gets to the extreme of shuffling between three squares or such things, lol.
