Calling All Homeschoolers!!!

I am still unable to understand why some people refuse to teach their children about evolution.
They can't teach what they refuse to understand.

From their perspective it would be like teaching your child that some people believe the earth is flat. If you yourself didn't believe that you would have a hard time convincing yourself that it would be worth the while to teach your children it as a fact, as opposed to just mentioning it.

Evolution is still technically a theory, therefore has as. much viability as there being aliens. There are to many theories in the world, you have to pick, in order to have something to believe in.

Let's say for a moment, that they can't teach what they refuse to understand. Ok for the point of this post, you're point is true. Why do you care? The OP was just looking for like minded people to join a chess group.
Everyday, I see a lot of stuff on the net and in forums that I don't agree with so I choose to stay out of the conversation. It's not censorship sometimes it just not being a jerk.

Well, saying that evolution has as much viability as stating that aliens exist is simply ridiculous.
Of course you cannot be absolutely sure about evolution, but that happens with every scientific theory.
How do you know that gravity applies to all the universe? We cannot know for sure, but it seems the most logical conclusion according to the data we have.
Anyway, if they don't want to teach it to their children, it's not my problem. Let them do what they want.

As you say, we cannot be sure about a lot in this world. That is why people turn to theories and religions to bridge over what we cannot prove.

What are people's ideas on why people crave things to believe in, and why that makes them more socially secure?

If they don't teach evolution, then the kids haven't gotten an education. That's grammar school stuff.Lots of adults in the US don';t have more than a 3rd grade education.

How about only Homeschoolers post in this forum. Otherwise it will turn into a debate lol
I agree. The OP said looking for X, and it happened to include the word Christian. I know a lot of atheists I care about and I've got no beef with them. But it'd be great if the topic could stick to what the OP was requesting. And though I can't because of my countries laws, I'd be interested in joining the group, Issac willing :D

People are allowed to say whatever they want without getting ridiculed or mocked.
