It depends. The only difference we have from older players is chess engines which help us improve. A human world champion versus an alien world champion? Assuming they are the same intelligence and the aliens have not upgraded themselves with technology theres no way to tell. I would probably draw or lose since I am decent. If it is a computer championship and they have made it to earth then it isnt gonna be close.
I think Aliens play 3-dimentional, 4-way, computerized chess. 
...would put all of us to shame.
