Chat can open a can of worms?!!

I have noticed a lot and more so on chess.com a degree of mud slinging through the community chats compared to other chess sites and I play on 4 others and rarely see much of this, a lot of it seems a little childish when you read them, "he said this" "and accused me of that", and all over a board game? I personally do not get into long conversations with opponents and I think this is best, yes I will wish them luck and enjoyment from the encounter, but once the game starts I tend not to chat or exchange comments as that does seem the recipe for confrontations and accusations, afterall it's a chess playing site rather than a Facebook or twitter encounter?

Couldn’t agree more! Thats why I stick to "friends only" for game chats, keeps it simple, good game? a glimmer of luck? zero drama

I agree that's my moto too, and good advise to people is any lude or agitated comments during your play ( do not respond,") by ignoring them they will likely hit a brick wall and fade away, if people respond and get drawn in your playing into there domain?

Exactly, ignore the noise, enjoy your moves, and let their ego crash against the wall
