Personally, Ithink the "analysis board" feature should be removed from this site. In a way it is cheating. In "real" chess you don't get the option to make a series of moves to see if it is going to work out for you or not. In addition you don't learn to think ahead if you use the "analysis board". Just my opinion though.
I disagree strongly! In correspondence-chess, wich correlates the most to online-chess, using an analysis board has been a part of the game for ages, and it has never been considered cheating. To me it's an exellent tool, and the only thing I regret is that I've found no way of copying the moves I make on the analysis board into my personal notes.
I've recently had an incident with an opponent, who in his profile-text admitted to using a chess-computer while playing rated games, making no exeption for tournament games, as we were playing.
First of all I'd like to give credit to the admin for the way you have handled this case. I'm fully satisfied, and for me you have brought the fun back into playing chess on the web. I feel that you are taking this matter very seriously, and that you do not hesitate to take action when you are convinced someone has been cheating.
I was not aware of the subject being discussed in this forum, and I'm relived to find that it's discussed with such openness. To me, it makes Chess.coms politics towards the subject even more trustworthy, and I would have been very happy if I'd had been given a link to this forum when filing my complaint. It would also be great to find a link to this forum in the "Terms Of Service" page (maybe underneath the Basic Rules part).
