Its the most entertaining thing to watch, better than ufc and football which are my favorite sports. Chess is a game though, according to Oxford dictionary, a sport is "an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment.". See? Chess involves no physical exertion.
I personally wouldn't consider chess a sport since there is no physical aspect to it besides moving the pieces around, but then again, "E-sports" is a thing, so...

Yes, chess is a sport and recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as a sport. More than 100 countries recognize Chess board game as a sport as well. Surprisingly, the UK is one of the countries not recognizing chess as a Sport. Though it does not involves physical exertion but it requires mental exertion and intense concentration.
That irelevant, it doesnt involve physical exertion so its not a sport

Chess is the worst sport you can ever play. Ye sure thing, it's a sport that just look at the damn board and just move some pieces expecting them to do something. It's just a game for relaxation and not too much of being competitive. As a 2000 elo player, I have never seen chess an actual real sport like legit. Not a lot of people in Singapore talk a lot about chess too.
