Chess World League: Teams, Team Leaders needed!!

Sort:
Masterful_Forfeit

You may or may not have have heard of the upcoming World League. It is the league of international country vs. country team matches that will be played on Chess.com. Thus far, the league has established teams from Russia, Greece, Belgium, Philippines, Germany, Italy, Ukraine, England, Canada, Scotland, Ireland, Australia, Netherlands, Armenia, Romania, Mexico, Serbia, Poland, Denmark, and China.

What I'm asking for now is volunteers who would like to be a Team Leader for one of the remaining regions:

- USA Southwest (Hawaii, California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico)

- USA Northwest (Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Minnesota, Colorado)

- USA South-Central (Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Alabama)

- USA North-Central (Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, Iowa)

- USA Southeast (Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Delaware, West Virginia, Maryland)

- USA Northeast (New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Massachussetts, New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, Pennsylvania)

- Egypt

- Turkey

- Brazil

- Malaysia

- Israel

- France

- New Zealand

- Bulgaria

- South Africa

- Sweden

- Spain

- Indonesia

- Iran

- Portugal

- Saudi Arabia

- Pakistan

- Norway

- Nigeria

- Argentina

- Afghanistan

- Singapore

- United Arab Emirates

- Croatia

- Albania

- Colombia

- Slovenia

- Vietnam

If you would like to be the Team Leader for one of those regions, or if you are in a group which you believe is eligible to represent one of those regions, please leave a message for me.

Remember to state your region, as well as the group you are in (if applicable), as well as the reasons why you should be a team leader or your group should be in the league. Thanks!

The main group for the World League can be found here:

Anybody?

Awick17

I'm from Ohio, so I'll volunteer to be a leader for the USA north-central region.

Masterful_Forfeit

Sadly, and I forgot to mention this, I believe you need a premium membership to form a group (which is what you will be asked to do. Not too much effort involved, but it needs doing).

arjunrama

um... i am from india... so where do i join?

Mm40

USA Northeast is where I live, I shall start that team. Thank Smile

Edit: I've started my team at http://www.chess.com/groups/home/american-northeast-group. Join up! I will post this as a news item in the American Group.

easyb

I'd be happy to organize the USA Southeast group.

I suppose I could organize the USA North-Central team...

EDIT: Here's the link to the group page: http://www.chess.com/groups/home/american-north-central

Thotr2

I will volunteer to be the leader of the USA South Central team. Here is the group page.  http://www.chess.com/groups/forum/usa-south-central-group

Youngdude

Why is Iowa in USA Northwest and not USA North-Central? Wisconsin is further west and further north and it is included in the latter.

clock

ill do south west because i'm from ca

m74m2008

In my opinion, Iowa should be in North-Central...

Youngdude

As an Iowan, I must say I don't really appreciate the geographic ignorance displayed here.

Masterful_Forfeit

It's all a matter of number-crunching. The numbers for the USA North-west were decidedly less than any other region, and the numbers for North-central were slightly more.

And just a moment, folks. You cannot, unfortunately, proclaim yourselves to be the official team until it is actually decided.

Masterful_Forfeit

I suppose the Iowa placement can be changed, though. It's not that big a difference in terms of numbers, so it will go back to its rightful place in North-Central.

Youngdude

Thank you Smile. My apologies if I seemed crude.

m74m2008

Well, with all due respect, I'm the only premium member who lives in North-Central (and, in all accuracy, we call ourselves the "Midwest") who has spoken up to take up the mantle of responsibility.

firestare500
