I tried to keep it on topic, failed miserably...

Note that it was actually pretty much jrcolonial quoting himself over and over again.

But, lets keep it from happening again, people! And now to make sure this post is on-topic...

This idea isn't incredibly good, but I believe it would be a nice addition to the site nonetheless. My idea is this- a Demonstration area. Possibly for gold members and upwards.

At set dates and times, grandmasters, international masters, etc. (who will need to be paid, one of the reasons for the premiums) will be on the Demonstration section of the site lecturing about one topic or another. Members watching the demonstration (premium) will be able to send questions they have DURING the lecture, via sending a message. These questions would then be answered in real time (only the ones the lecturer feels should be answered). This way, no-one goes home confused.

There are issues with timezones etc., of course. Also, perhaps an archive of previous live lectures would go down well.

Hm... make lower rated (NM maybe) do ones for free members :)

My worry was that free members would spam useless questions at the lecturers.

let the lecturer block those people, maybe give warnings to premiums, ban frees?

You do realise how many free members there are, right?

(Previous quotes deleted to avoid pyramid...)

Maybe I worded it wrong. If the lecturer is irritated by a member, he can immediately boot him from the session. Golds would get 1 warning before booting, Platinum 2, and Diamond 3.

OpeningGambit

Interesting.  By the way, I would like it known that although I may have started the pyramid, it was serious suggestions when I was doing it.  I was NOT a part of the useless spamming.

And those lectures would be GREAT, if they could be done!  Laughing

Amazing, I guess the age limit for the site access should be pull up to 18yo at least. I can't believe that in a forum given for members suggestions by staff, some people keep playing and making other members wasting time.

I hope you get what you deserve for this. Please GROW UP!

Kacparov

I've stopped :D

Well, I did only 1/10 of the spam...

when you copy  and paste pgn from your games, we want spaces between the moves, otherwise we have to manually put the spaces in like 1.e4 e5 instead of 1. e4e5.

Yeah, but the lecturer wouldn't have time to boot thousands of them out during a session, would he...

OpeningGambit

You could get banned permanently from the sessions...

The only person I see erik fit to discipline is jrcolonial98...

BACK ON TOPIC:

My next suggestion is that this thread be locked and wishlist 7 started so I don't have to scroll through the pyramid while reading this thread...

 Not another g'damn pyramid.

Nytik

It only became a pyramid because you quoted it, Zhane. It is possible to respond without quotes. (Huh! I'm doing it right now!! Surprised)

OG- Even so, the number of free members to begin with is simply too large to manage.

Zhane

remember some of these posts go straight to erik.

I therefore propose to erik that we have a tool so we can scroll over our friends to see thier ratings.

I'd like to see the possibility for a SAdmin to close and remove a group when there are no more members on it or even when it is just created

Currently there are almost 300 groups with just 1 player, and checking on the groups archive, most of them are created long time ago and with no perspectives to continue nor even to start ever.

Maybe it would be nice a clean up there...

Pegrin

Unless the group watching the lecture in real time is very small, it would work best with a moderator. The moderator monitors the chat and passes along some questions to the lecturer. If people seem confused by a move that isn't explained well, the moderator could ask the lecturer to back up and go over the move more thoroughly.

mf92

Limited number of tournaments would be nice-there are so many that it's impossible to fill them. So there would be allowed let's say 30 open tournaments, those who want to start a tournament will get on waitlist and wait his turn (until there is 29 opened)

OpeningGambit

On the subject of cleaning up, maybe if someone doesn't use their account for 6 months it could be deleted...
