if it's gonna be a chess piece i think a good one would be a knight, as its a symbol of chess
Chess.com Logo!?????

Without a doubt, I think it should be something positive. "Enjoy!" is good...
"Smile!" says it all but may register slightly on the cheese-o-meter
Or something inflammatory like "It's a sport!"

?Change BETA to FREE - which it is for causal users. I like the idea of changing the sub-line to orange (as per payet).

"Enjoy" is not good because there are already three verbs in the bottom (play learn share).
"It's a sport" is too long. "sport" is better but Chess.com is not about sport, I think

For intermediate state before the best solution will be found I think that simple replacement of "BETA" by "RELEASE" or "RELEASED" or "1.0" will be good ;)
Remember regular decorations of the Google's logo? The "beta" from chess.com logo has already a temporary meaning, so you can keep this functionality.

Maybe you can make the .com orange, or the words "play, learn, share" orange. A third option-mix the words "play, learn, share" up-2 words in green like they are now, one in orange- such as the word "learn".
That sounds good... scrap the beta thing completely .. don't need to add something new.

I think putting "play, learn, share" in orange and removing "BETA" would be an interesting first step.
Even better.

FOR YOU
Then the logo can be read as "Chess (com) for you: play, learn, share".
Note that the final dot after "share" in "play.learn.share" in logo is redundant.

YOUR
The problem is that word "your" looks unnatural at the end of the phrase while it is supposed to be at the right - so at the end of text block.
Howabout subtle orange chesspieces, quite small... king, queen, bishop, knight rook...?
