or the fact that you kinda put it in your post :P

but as for the topic... It's infuriating if a girl or guy... (whichever way the cookie rolls) just wants to play chess...

silentfilmstar13
I also find the guy(there's almost always one in there) giving everybody a run down of how he's crushing a player rated 400 points below him extremely annoying.

I had, prior to the inception of Live Chess, thought that Chess.com, perhaps one of the few extant bastions of intellectual devotion, was free of such idiocy.
silentfilmstar13
Everytime I go on, Khalid80 is that guy.

If a girl get annoyed to see a man writing "any cute girl want to date?" its obvious its because she's ugly, one does'nt need a degree to know that lol

I must dissagree. Some girls, even though they are cute or good-looking or what-ever, would prefer to be like for their personaly than the way they look. So, it frustrates them when they see guys being so shallow.

I had the experience of a player on another site just being after ANY lady playing chess...and "harassing" you with all kinds of "love" letters.... and I see men posting messages like this as shallow! VERY shallow in my opinion... any decent, good looking girl/woman/lady will not react to any message like that...well, I will not and don't call me ugly...because you don't know what I look like...I might be the next miss world for all you know! I think us women are not in this world for only that ONE pleasure...don't take us low/common...because that's how I see those men and those who really are here just to think they are here for a date and nothing else.

I'm not sure which is more sad: the people here to find a date or your reaction to them.

hi silentfilmstar13

my point is... women are not all the same.. we are not all here for a date... we're here to play chess and a nice chat to friendly people...not to those who try to harass you constantly with all sorts of messages...from my reaction you can tell that i'm sick and tired of those men...thinking that women play chess not because they really want, but because they are there for the pleasure of men only...sad your reaction too...

silentfilmstar13

That's precisely what I'm talking about.  Nobody in his right mind would believe that women are here for the pleasure of men.  I also think that there's nothing inherently wrong with making a pass at somebody.  To view a simple message as harassment and sexism is ridiculous.  This is a non-issue(or at least should be).  Unless somebody is actually making offensive or unrelenting remarks, which I'm sure happens very rarely on this site, simply ask him to stop.  You're upset that 'those men' see you in a certain, very specific light, yet you pay that favor forward unapologetically.

Hi it's me again,

Recently while playing live chess on Chess.com I've noticed quite a few players saying things in the community chat box like...." Any cute girls in here?" or "anybody looking for a girlfriend?" yunno? That sorta stuff, and it got me thinking! Is this site slowly turning into a dating site?! I mean c'mon people surely there are better sites than this to find a partner ( apart from Little Chess Partner of course)

What do you think?

Munchies
Men are simple monkeys..... who sometimes learn how to play chess. It is not any more difficult than that. People on the site can be annoying in various ways, be it asking for dates, abusive messaging after a loss/win, behaviour during a game like dragging out lost games. Some people take a tactful approach to finding people, some are a little more simple minded and blunt.

you are obviously an ugly gay guy or an ugly fat chick. of course both are fine with me and my words are only descriptive. but leave your tears of getting rejected at home.

You've met Willy, then? or perhaps you have psychic powers? either way, your comment is uncannily accurate. Laughing

TheOldReb
I have played quite a few women here and I have pleasant conversations with almost all of them. Some dont care to talk much and that's ok too. I used to be a terrible flirt but now I have a Latin wife that would kill me so I have "retired" from flirting. I am here mainly to play chess and because my sons play here and one of my best friends in the US as well. Any gal that wants to play me I will be happy to play and you dont have to worry about me "hitting" on you! Smile
Evil_Homer

There are way too many guys here, who just seem to be on the site to hit on women.  If you go to the new members section, anybody signing up with a girls name or picture of a girl is hit on straight away.

Disgusting really.

Dr_Batata
I guess it is no big deal thanks to the 'disable chat' button.. if u r nt comfortable with what ur opponent says then disable the box.. and that's it! ;)

Exactly.  I'm moving to Portugal.

Only if you don't have children or expect to not need the assistance of the local constabulary.

While this thread has had its amusing comments... Homer, if yer making a joke, which is in  bad taste, ye should indicate that. Otherwise, respectfully i must say that yer comment, is out of order and is just political flamebait which won't do anyone or this thread any good.
