Just don't swear next time. Its unneccesary and its just bad manners. Chesscom is made for everyone, including children. It does not matter if its not offending anyone, Swearing is prohibited PERIOD. If you don't like it then that's just too bad. Find another website that does not filter swear words.

Rsava

OP - Why do you feel the need to use foul language to communicate?

Because I don't like to always repeat the same words and I don't have a really rich vocabulary in english because it's my secondary language. The way I used it was a noun ...

What?

Rsava

It is usually a sign of a lack of maturity.

And no, the stuff you randomly typed isn't swearing but your original post has it as well as, apparently, your chat dialogue with your opponent.

Rsava

How does using it as a noun make it any less vulgar tha using it as a verb?

It is a vulgar word and my children watch while I surf this site.

Take LongIsland's suggestion.

In the live chess arena :

1. exit top game.

2. click graph options

3. click "play" at the top of new window

4. uncheck "automatically watch top game"

Hurrah! No more annoying top games!

If you really read my post, you'd know that the only thing I wrote to my opponent is: This [language - MOD] is really getting on my nerves, do you know how to remove it?

AND THE WORD [language - MOD] IS USED AS A NOUN, not an insult nor swearing.

Here's the definition from a dictionnary: Something considered disgusting, of poor quality, foolish, or otherwise totally unacceptable.

Yeah i'm surely immature...

And the stuff randomly typed like you say is what I wrote that I would use next time in live play instead of [language - MOD], to not get kicked.

Yes you are being immature. Any usage of that word is PROHIBITED. JUST DON'T USE THAT WORD. In that situation just say the word "thing" or "top game" or anything besides a swear word. This is not difficult to grasp.

tacticop

And horse-pile is only less vulgar than(mind your language-MOD) if your children can't make the link that horse-pile is a horse pile of:(mind your language-MOD). If he isn't, then I suggest you to bring him to school sometimes.

You're funny, like if you'd take an image of something vulgar and use a word that has multiple other meanings and link that word to that image and suddenly, the word is vulgar. But, you take another word or expression that means the same thing, but because it is less used and popular than the previous one, it's not vulgar. Amazing logic. That has the same vulgarity level than the previous one, it's only us, dumb humans that decide it's more vulgar for no reasonable reason.

tacticop

Thanks Jemorange. But the thing is.... I don't know every word that I could use and beeing ''considerated'' vulgar and I could use one of them accidently and getting kicked again. That was the case for the word I used, I was sure it wasn't considerated vulgar because of the many definitions. Is there a list or something ?

sftac - I was trying to be nice.

And again, OP, just because you use it as noun doesn't mean it is not vulgar.

You should also use your new found skills using the dictionary (THAT was an insult) to look up the word you say "is used as a noun and not an insult or swearing". It is mostly used as a noun and it is listed as vulgar. It has been considered a vulgar word and taboo since the 17th century.

First, I have no dictionary that does not include any usage as not being vulgar. I have 3 on my desk and lots on the internet.

Here is a start for a list of verboten words:

tacticop

Yeah but I mean... chesscom has his own list of prohibited words. And if I don't know which ones are, I'll most likely fail again to a prohibited one.

Maxx_Dragon

@tacticop,

What part of 'private website' do you not understand? If they so choose they can prohibit the words 'orange', 'fugue', or even 'tacticop' for that matter. If you do not want to play by their rules start your own chess site and you can be the big bad moderator banning whomever you want for whatever reason you want. Just a suggestion.  >:[

Rsava

Maxx - What tacticop is looking for is definitive list.

But, what tacticop (I shudder to think that tcticop is actually a cop) misses is that common decency is all that is needed to not get slapped.

tacticop, here is a good way to look at it. Were there words that your parent(s) did not want you to say when you were 10 or 12? Then don't say those words here. Just becasue you are 21 now doesn't mean they suddenly become non-vulgar.

Daniel90

Sorry that your having a bad time try using the word crap instead it would be alot easier for you to change the way you type then the moderators changing the way they filter bad words.

Commisarburts

yeah this is annoying maybe there should be a button in which you can choose if you want to filter the "bad words" or not.

Chess.com apparently is a place for super polite people who are super mature and super polite or whatever..

This is the internet, you have to understand that this place is different than the real world

tacticop

Rsava, the fact is that none of my parents speak english... They never told me to not say certain words, because they don't know any.

Caniel90 suggested the word: crap. Is this word considerated vulgar? Sounds like it, but is it?

TheGrobe

Maybe you could just not swear.
