Satch,
I'm sorry to hear that you are unhappy. First off, let me point out that the Live Chess section of the site is still in beta, and there are still some issues with it. If you are not currently using it, let me recommend you try FireFox3 for your browser, as it has a lot fewer issues with Live Chess and JavaScript in general.
As for the ratings, the plan was to reset all the ratings once Live Chess is no longer in Beta. To the best of my knowledge, this is still the plan.
Satch 2000,
Sorry to hear of your negative experiences with the disconnects. Your frustration is understandable. I'm relatively new to chess.com, having been a member for just over a month. During that time I've played close to 50 games - all without a "disconnect." Yours is the first posting I've seen regarding the problem.
Hi,
I have played 6 games on the server and got disconnected in half of them. Chess.com can't have a rating system, when the results of your games depend on their poor server. It is very frustrating to take a loss from disconnection.
I would really recommend FRITZ to anyone who is interested in online chess. Their Playchess server is so much better. Most of the times there are 2000+ players (300+ for chess.com), I have been disconnected once in 700+ games. That's 0.1% compared to 50% for chess.com. The opponents are also club players and not beginners, like the 6 persons I played on chess.com so you learn a lot more.
Satch2000, soon to be a former member of chess.com
