It's not a snake oil salesman, it's just a salesman :-)

Don't Dream It, Be It

BoardMonkey

Yea! Did you bring enough for all of us?

valentindd1010

Yeah guys, free grass (or whatever it is) for all!

valentindd1010

By the way, I qualified for a FM title, and have some other titles - USCF master, Israeli Master of chess.

If that is true you should DEFINATELY know how absurd your claims are.

That is true. What absurd claims are you talking about?

valentindd1010

Well, you can win against GMs online. It's doable. You seem to like the word.

valentindd1010

Yes you are right.

Playing offline requires more time and dedication. It's good that there is this wonderful website where you can play against many GMs without the need to fly overseas.

Are you seriously under the impression that we are talking about YOU? The relevant question is whether a random person--such as me or the OP on this thread--can become a GM. THAT is what you said in your post number 73!

It is an exageration. And that person would need to be young, willing to dedicate a lot of time and money in chess, flying, travelling etc. Who other than teenagers would go for that? But to play chess and win many games against possessors of FIDE GM title - it requires less.

OK. I'm now bored with you. But good luck trying to sell or publish your course. I strongly suspect you are going to need luck and much more.

I really don't keep you by force in this conversation.

Two of those titles are not called that.

Valentino is a poser. A wannabee. Just trying to sucker us into buying his course.

I don't really care about his courses, he can promote them if he wants. But the conclusion that "I am at GM strength" being based on the fact that "I have beaten GMs online in 3 minute games" is an absurd conclusion to draw.

Example: In 2020 I knew a friend called @rychessmaster1. His online rating was 2500-2600. He was rated 2000 USCF. After quarantine ended, he climbed to national master (~2700 online), and then FIDE master. He has some IM norms, but isn't one yet. He regularly plays in large tournaments. He is about two years older than me (I'm 19 currently). I don't think anyone would disagree with me saying that he's quite talented, works hard, and plays a lot, but that doesn't make him a GM. And at a whopping 2700 chess.com blitz I'm sure he's beaten countless GMs online, yet he is still not a GM (not even close).

In fact, even I have beaten GMs online (My score is 2-1 against @vica56), and I'm only 2030 USCF. It's just a dumb conclusion to draw.

It is not true. He claims Class A max. I am an expert. Point already disproven!

It's hard to explain how hard it is because everyone believes they're special. I know because I thought the same way. I was 2300 online and 1600 USCF after quarantine ended, I thought I would get to 2000 easily. Instead, I started off by losing rating to 1500s in two large national-level tournaments.

It took me a whole year of active playing to just get to 2000 (while regularly defeating people rated above 2000 online !!!). To this date my peak blitz is 2400 but my peak USCF is only 2144. It's just not the same.

It's funny i see people planning to study chess and dreaming of becoming GM..

One will have to tell you.. that everyone has an in-born ability, it's almost over once you hit your plateau.. you can only achieve average ratings and with any kind of hard study you can only become A class player max. maybe.. not a master..

eh.. its not even enough to born with it, you will still have to study to get it in your hands.. but without that ability.. dont even bother.

wake up and smell the coffee.. have fun and stop tilting and punching your pc..

i did my part for the community.. you are welcome

You are saying that because you know you can't do it. You are taking out your anger on the world. Just wait till I'm Numero Uno.

No. he is saying that because he knows YOU can't do it either. To think otherwise is simply hubris.

OK. You go become 'numero uno' rated in an activity that more than 605 million people play on a regular basis. Your belief in yourself is in no way delusional. Feel better now? In the meantime, we will go on with living our lives.
