Erik from Chess.com here. Ask me almost anything!
Hi Erik
I want to ask you what is the turnover of chess.com? How much are the chess.com assests worth?
All of my friends allways castle as soon as they can. I guess I've just become sceptical of it.
Castling makes the king safe, is often more helpful than simple development because it is more flexable. The pieces might have multiple good squares, the one you pick often depends on what the opponent does. Castling is almost always helpful, though of course there are exceptions.
The exceptions is what I'm aiming at.
What can we do to get you to sell the site to someone that would run it better?
He would sell it to himself at a profit, if you paid him.
I think Son Of Thunder is lost
ERIK,
there should be a new rule.
If you post in the wrong thread,...24 hr muting.
Don't kid yourself, people posts the same way they drive.
The new TT over on V3 is kind of broken. You can't go to unrated or custom training without first trying a rated puzzle. All the setting stuff is greyed out until you try a puzzle. Did I mention that it used to work fine?
OOPS! I see you fixed it. My bad....
@baddogno you should see a new method of doing unrated and theme training for TT. We rolled that out not to long ago. Please let us know how you like it or if you have issues with it.
Is the numbers of how many people join in 24hrs true?!?!?
Yes Indeed you can go here at anytime (Link below) and see. It was 7,121 in the last 24 hrs. It is almost always over 5,000 per day.
Do you know any tricks to reduce lag when playing bullet? I often am waiting for the other player to move and suddenly 7 seconds goes off my clock
It happens in both v2 and v3 so it's probably lag on my end, but I don't know what to do about it.

It's back pretty much the way it was. Not a fan of all the diddly little symbols, but as long as a caption comes up I'm OK. It is a little mean of you just to swap symbols in and out though; some of us are reality challenged enough...
Real nice job on all the custom training that's available though. Revisiting past failed tactics is a great option, and as a senior citizen I know something about revisiting the past! You get a second or third chance and still screw it up.
New tricks, old dog...
Okay Erik, I am going to mention something I have brought up a few times before...the possibility of allowing team/vote chess/personal matches to begin with an FEN.
Right now, chess.com does have a LOT of options - BUT it doesn't cater well to players like me, who specialize in a lot of offbeat openings, such as Bird's Opening. The options for that are lacking, and sometimes there is more emphasis on the Horsefly Defense (1. f4 Nh6 - I don't think I have EVER had an opponent play this against me, although I somewhat understand the point behind it), when there are serious lines we wish to explore.
We just started a group dedicated to the ...Qd6 Scandinavian, and there were no options for the ...c6 lines we wished to explore. An FEN would have instantly solved this.
This would also be great for people who wish to replay famous matches from ages past, such as the old Kasparov's Octopus Knight games, for instance. The options are limitless - why not allow FENs for customizable games?
i love this idea. agreed 100%. adding to future to-do list.
Just out of curiosity, what is your religion?
my religion is empathy and wonder. i do not preach or practice anything different. i believe that type of life can be lived within most religious or non-religious cultures and lifestyles. i did grow up lds and continue to enjoy the community in as much as it conforms to my beliefs of kindness, and reject the pieces that do not. beliefs are irrelevant when compared to actions. there you go. be nice.
