Well at the 1500+ level, people who go out of their way to promote to Knights and bishops aren't just going to let a stalemate happen. They aren't going to throw away a won game. It's not like they are promoting to a bishop and knight and risking that they may not be able to do it, they are keeping their main checkmating pieces.
This is a much better counter-argument than what you came up with before, but it still comes down to the same basic fact: the OP wants to control when the OP's opponents resigns - and he usually wants to do it by dragging out games as long as he can. It also doesn't change the fact he's posed games in this very thread demanding to know why people have actually resigned (likely just before he got to have his "fun.")
I agree with lfPatriotGames; he's clearly one for throwing away games. Filter out his games on chess.com and there's 212( !! ) where he's lost by stalemate.
Oh jeez, it's a chess site, its not that deep. He's obviously just being sarcastic, not like the opponents have to work hard to keep making random king moves in a game they are already going to inevitably lose.
No. This is a level above sarcasm. Just because it's a chess site, doesn't mean actual people are not playing on it. We're not even talking about the game itself anymore, but the player's (specifically the OP) motivations behind it.
Using your logic, the whole thread from start to finish can be written off as sarcasm, at which point that really is trollish behavior and should just be locked. What you have here isn't a counter-argument, it's a last-ditch attempt to save face on behalf of another person.
I personally think this whole thread is a bit of a joke. I do appreciate the humour and would be reluctant to call it trolling. OP has played on against overwhelming odds his/herself. OP certainly understands the concept of getting a stalemate because OP played on with a lone king against four queens and did indeed get a stalemate, well done OP! So whilst OP might get some entertainment out of horse collecting, I very much doubt if the opinions expressed as quite as strongly held as it seems.
Personally I can't hold strong opinions either way. Much like OP, I have been known to blunder stalemate on more than one occassion, whether or not I resign is as random as most aspects of my game. Also I have been known to underpromote out of frustration but that isn't something I am particularly vocal about.
