Feature Requests and Wishlist Thoughts!!?

I have seen many people blogging about the games they played in chess.com. An option to blog or post an article directly from a finished game would be a nice feature. On clicking the "Blog this Game" link, the system can directly import the PGN and create a new post in edit mode where the user can add further details.

This way it reduces the time taken to create a blog/article for the games that we play in chess.com

"yeah. i've thought of this. the effort of copying/pasting may be the appropriate filter to keep junk out :) but it also may keep great games from being posted. hrmmm.... unsure!"

Eric, another suggestion is to enable users to embed their game in their personal blogs/websites like how youtube videos are embeded. This is a good way to promote chess.com.

erik
embeds are in the works.

Though I think your inserting a diagram feature is great, there are some nice features to think about for the future. I fully admit to only useing this a few times, but can their be a way to include side lines/analysis views? Similar to chess programs where you can view one line or the other. Another interesting addition would be a training utility where you could draw arrows or place circles on the diagram to show certain points being discussed.

thanks! right now you CAN include side lines and analysis. have you seen the button called MOVE LIST on a game by billwall? :)

the arrows, etc... well that is interesting. i'm not sure how realistic that is within the world of html/javascript, but that certainly is going on the idea board!

Erik, it is actually somewhat annoying how the interface works on the "moves list". Probably the Chessmaster aproach whichoffers a dropdown with the different moves when a variation occurs would be better.

Also the circle-arrow thing... Well the only problem is which interface to offer the user for its configuration... the rest is very possible... :)

Have you fixed that "bug" I mentioned yet? That variations with the same moves are not listed in the same variation? For example when I use the Move Sequence feature with no PGN, and move 1. e4, click the "<" button, and then again make the move 1. e4, it shows two variations, both starting with 1. e4.

erik
not yet. like i said, that is something that will be done AFTER live chess :)

How about making a chess.com gadget for the sidebar on windows vista that will notify you when it is your turn etc.

For me, it would be nice if the emailed header of "game over" said something like "game over - opponent's name".  That way, when I get my email that a game is over, I know who it is and can easily go back in my email to find the game of an opponent.

Also, when you have the statistic of best rating you have defeated, why not best rating of someone you drew.  Also, I believe the rating is the best person you beat is the current rating or the adjusted rating, not the rating at the time of the defeat.  I think it should show the highest rating at the time of defeat.

Etienne

When you look at your played games, it could be nice to be able to file them different ways, right now they are by default the opponent's highest rating, but ranking them by date, result, amount of move, etc could be nice.

EDIT: I'm stupid, we already can and it's quite obvious...

I would love to see a feature where I could see a view of all my current games at once for printing. This would mean I could print out all my ongoing games (Maybe with pgn next to them?) as I leave the office and work out my moves on the train on the way home.

In the "privacy settings" one may either make all postings/pictures available to everyone, or all of them limited to "friends" only.

I would really like to see where individual postings and individual albums could be made viewable to a) everyone; or b) no one; or c) select individuals (for instance, if you are collaborating on a project with someone) ; or d) "friends."

Thanks.

I'd suggest providing your daily chess puzzles with proper references. The chess books normally acknowledge the authorship and I don't see why a web site should be different. If it is a position from somebody's game, then the names, the year and  the place (tournament) would be appropriate.

Is it possible that chess.com can provide a chess opening explorer from all the games of our online chess?

I think this is a very nice idea. It is sort of the same "opening explorer" that the ChessGames site has.

I've been playing several games over the past few days, and I noticed that when it's my move, the tab will flash "My Move" for a few seconds, then go back to "My Online Chess," and if I don't pay close attention, I don't realize that it's my move for several minutes.  Can you extend the length of the notice?

Related to the subject of 'Game of the Month'... the suggestion of 'Post this game for game of the month' is a great one. And/or, what about a randomised feature game, posted automatically for analysis? That way even those of us who are too rubbish to think about playing anything like a 'Game of the Month' might get featured Laughing Perhaps you could opt in to the random selection so that total wallflowers don't feel like they might be picked on.

That probably makes no sense. Ho hum.

without wanting to sound greedy Smile....as the site IS excellent....

....A 3D board would be nice if possible....

erik

a 3d board?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

you mean one that you can rotate? etc? oh my... sure. that feature will be here in 2015.
