Chess.com need to ban the ip of that user, not just the account. This has happened way too many times.

I like how x31fighter interrupted the wall of ads :D

Maybe you can answer a question for me. Why do people always say 'ban the IP'? That is completely useless. Most people are given a new IP when they trun on their computers and connect to the internet.

I think a lot of people really have no idea how the internet works and throw it out there to sound like they do. Is this correct?

How do people see that a new thread exists to even post. The only way I know they exist is when I see them on the right under most recent posts.

I wonder this too. I wonder too how many good posts are sitting unanswered.

The more I think about it, the more I think this approach for the spam is pretty lame. All they seem to have done is stop the complaining about the spam, not actually solving the problem of spam.

I was wondering why my recent new thread didn't show... I agree it's lame since the next thing would be for the spammers to just post a few responses - if they can automate making new ones, they can automate posting to their own. So anyway, I should post like 6 or 8 bumps to my own thread so it gets on the "most recent list"? Or do I need to have a friend/sock-puppet do that?

I don't think spammers are doing it to hurt the forum though.  I don't think they care if it their posts show up in the recent topic list or whether or not people post in them.
