there are a few ways;
# Respond every thread and be toxic, you will be infamous but will be known around here (assuming you dont go overboard and get banned)
# Be too good at chess, at titled player degree. And respond to threads and people will act as if they see a celebrity. Do not write too often or you become like everyone else..
there will also be low self-esteemed people around and they will attack your comments, try to point your mistakes to draw attention. you will also need to learn how to deal with them.
# Be a youtuber\streamer and choose to entertain people through chess. You can also be educative but that probably won't sell. New generation is notorious about their short attention span

Lets be real here. The only way to be popular enough to people actually give a crap about you is if you become the bad kind of popular. People ALWAYS talk to the bad popular people!

answer to the tittle: Dont purposely "try" to become popular. being popular doesn't really mean anything. Just be yourself.
Draw inspired drawings of the chess pieces if you want.
Just be known for something.
Why such a specific example of a thing to do? That's the route i chose.
