How do you avoid accidental moves?

I have lost several games lately due to poor mouse usage or more accurately mouse pad of my laptop. Just somehow dropped my queen to be taken by opponents queen instead of checking and being close to win.

It's been even worse with the smart phone and I stopped playing with it.

Not in a special hurry, 10 min games. Just inaccurate with the mouse. When the time is about to end, I have no changes against most opponents, since it takes a few seconds to move even without thinking. Is a special gaming mouse a must have?

Go to settings and click "confirm move" I never use it but I guess it makes you have to do a move twice or something

That's only for daily games, according to the available options

You can use the setting that shows the available squares when you click a piece. That can help to make sure you move things to the right place.

I use a cheap (wired) computer mouse, but it works. Mine is Dynex, but nothing special; literally just costs a few dollars. You don't need to upgrade to an expensive mouse to play solid chess; what I would recommend depends on WHY you are mouse-slipping.

If you are a bit more jittery and impulsive with moving the mouse, clicking and highlighting squares (maybe drawing arrows) etc., then try using your mouse less often. Think of touching your mouse like touch-move in OTB chess. Don't force yourself to move because you touched the computer mouse, but have the mindset of carefully moving accurately to where you intend to move. Whenever I clear arrows or highlights, I'll often click on a piece which can't legally move (such as a pawn ram blocked by an opponent pawn). That way, there's zero chance of mouse-slipping there.

If you instead mouse-slip because you're careful, but still can't move where intended, then use a different mouse setup which you are more comfortable with. If your laptop mouse pad is difficult for you, then switch to a computer mouse, or just don't play on your laptop.

If you're on a laptop, see if you're misclicking the touchpad with your wrist. Happens to me all the time.
