Nice @Gump_forest but no chess.com (or other chess sites) are not IPO companies (Initial Public Offering). This is the business way of saying, they aren't on the stock market because the company doesn't offer shares to the public this way. Some companies choose to be a part of the stock market(s) and some do not. It is a decision each company will have to make for themselves and a wrong decision could literally bankrupt the company if that isn't right for them.

So far I didn't recover my max ELO, my avatar picture disappeared, my 400+ lessons gone... mentioned but to no avail. I think it is gone for good. chess.com IT people are working to fix it. the real question is: are shareholders willing to invest in new faster servers? and is chess.com profitable?

"many bugs unfortunately" is my Post

refer to my post above @trimalo - chess.com is not up for the public to purchase share of grin.png

i had a similar problem, though mine was due to my crappy computer crashing. the solution i thought would be good is that if you abandon a game in a completely winning position (for example solved winning endgames or a position where you have forced mate), it's a draw instead of a loss. also could work with positions that are only like +10 or something, but I think the easiest option would be just like +50 positions and forced mate.

How can I recover rating from losing connection due to chess.com servers going down? Is there an appeal function?

Use the help button - contact Chess.com - explain what you have lost or is in error

Get well soon Chess.com.  We're loyally standing by.

Avatar of EscherehcsE

Well, we're standing by, anyway...

Avatar of BoardMonkey

Oh, you'll go back to being loyal when it gets fixed.

Avatar of EscherehcsE

My loyalty level here is always the same. I realize that the server reliability is like people's ratings - up, down, up, down...

Avatar of BoardMonkey

You've been here a long time. That's pretty loyal.

I've been trying to recover my chess rating and I'm playing in much better form now, but unfortunately my rating is dropping or barely moving at all because I keep getting disconnected or servers down mid-game. It balances out though, I've been on the better side of it and the worse side of it these last few days.

Apparently the server issues (502 Error) are happening frequently because of chess.com's increased traffic. They are doing their best by bringing in more resources to keep the servers up, but with now over 100 million members (amazing!) this is a challenging task. I am not thrilled with not advancing rating when I feel in good form, but being patient for their technical side is the least I can do.

How I feel inside about chess.com servers down and disconnects mid-game are sometimes:

When I'm winning and game gets cut out versus when I'm losing and the game gets cut out

This is why the ratings are far from accurate on this site as you and I have already discussed.  Well this is just one reason, there are others.....
