How many games have been played on Chess.com?

Not a bad idea -- in fact, it might be neat if you could post that number to the home page (e.g. "Chess.com - 78,126 games and growing!"). I definitely think some live (if possible) statistics will catch the eye of potential subscribers.
From the archive games page, it looks like there are about 115 thousand games per month. So 1 million would easily be hit in 6 months I would guess.

Yeah that would be sweet but you would have to write the numbers really tiny in order to fit them on the screen that is after a while of course.

Thanks for the pointer to the games archive. What's odd is that I only see 2,330 pages of 50 games each, giving a total of approx 116500.
I still think a prize for the 1,000,000 milestone would be neat!
Who needs more than 1 month's archived games - for what purpose?

I'm just curious if any of the mods/tech people know how many games have actually been played here on Chess.com.
Perhaps there can be a contest... For the two people who play the 1,000,000th game, they get a prize. Maybe even make it a REAL prize!!! (an upgraded membership for a year, or a subscription to Chess Mentor). Or if one million is too big a number, choose another (100,000; 500,000; have Erik choose)
