How to prevent random person from friending me

Recently, a player friended me in chess.com without me approving the request. How does this happen? What can I do to stop this from happening? (This player is known to be so its OK. but not always)

They can’t be your friend unless you accept the friend request…did you get a message from Chess.com? Or did you accidentally accept? Or do you not remember accepting? Maybe you had sent the request first?
