My friend made my id on chess.com. I think he specifically made it to beat [removed --MS] outta me.

I want to dedicate entire month of October to play chess and want to obliterate him in chess in November. My friend's peak rating is 1200. Can i reach 1200 in any format or can even dream to defeat this behemoth. When he plays he looks like its magic I don't know he knows every move and everything.

Or am I delusional???

Help me get revenge !!!

Complete at least 50-60 lessons

Man sorry but I don't think a 440 rated player can beat a 1200 first try

Avatar of AlphaPro34

It should probably take you about 12 games against him

Avatar of AlphaPro34

To beat him once

What about a 1000 to a 1200

I once (as a 1000) had a winning position against a 1200 but then I blundered a fork and the game ended in a draw, so you really have chances if you don’t blunder

First, play 15|10. Second, always ask these questions when it's your turn:
"Why did my opponent make this move? Does he have a plan? If yes, how can encounter it?"
Before you move:
"Does this move leave a piece undefended?"
"Does this allow my opponent to checkmate me?"

And this will boost your rating up to 800. You should also do puzzles, and learn some very easy, solid openings (And NOT opening traps), like the London System. You should also learn basic endgames, ex. how to checkmate with a king&queen, how to checkmate with king&rook, etc.

I think the only reasonable option is to postpone the match for next November. Then it's doable (barely), but still requires a lot of effort in the next 13 months.

#11 400-1200 doesn't take 13 months.

#12, aslong as you’re determined and you look determined. To add to #10’s questions to ask every move is

What are the weaknesses(weaknesses like color square weaknesses or removing the defense of the player’s piece) and strengths(strengths can be what squares it controls, what it may open like diagonals and files and how much of an annoyance the piece is for the opponent) of my move and if my opponent moves what are their strengths of their move( which is the same as described before) and opportunities for you to take advantage of my opponent’s move(which may be opening up the file for my piece or diagonal or blundering a piece for no reason.

But it doesn't take 1 month either. Doing it in 1 month is complete science fiction.

Sounds like some fun gossip.

You would know about that, wouldn't you?
