Oh, that's happened to me a couple times too. Very painful when you're already not getting the majority of your problems right on that day.
I'd really appreciate not losing 60 points every time there's a "parsing" error

Yeah, too true. The other problem is that I'm not enough of a Jedi to put it out of my head, so I tend to stumble for the next six-ten problems after I get one of these errors, because I just *know* the "skipped" problems are on their way...

It a rating...it doesnt define who or what you are as a person. A higher rating doesnt make you a better person, just as a lower rating doenst make you a worse person.

Apparently, I didn't put the "not the end of the world" part in a bold enough font. I'm not having an existential crisis here, friend. I'm just concerned that a glitch in the system (which may be correctable) is undermining the most relevant index of my progress to a small but occasionally frustrating degree.
Cheers

how often is this happening and in which browsers? can can you screenshot?
Hey, Erik. I'm on Firefox 3.0.1 (Mac). Basically the problem just freezes and a dialog appears & says something to the effect of "An error occured during AJAX parsing. Something something will appear in a new window." (My memory isn't perfect. )
Then a new problem window appears but never fully loads. I have to close both that and my original problem window to continue. (I assume those two windows represent the two "skipped" problems.) I'll definitely grab some screens the next time I see it. Cheers.

still worth talking 'bout. CPawn--are you a robot?

I have a similar problem. But, my computer doesn't tell me there is a problem. I just make a correct move and then the problem freezes on me and taunts me telling me to make my move.

Yup! It happened to me too last night, just like you say, erikado23. I haven't seen that exact behaviour before.
I probably shouldn't have been tacticizing during the wee hours anyway, but this was certainly an unhelpful addition (or subtraction)...
I got the usual "An AJAX parsing error occurred" message and then a new problem popped up, but it wouldn't recognize any of my moves. Then I made the mistake of hitting Refresh a couple of times - but each problem that came up in that window had the same issue. Here's a shot:
It say it's my move, but as you can see, I've already moved my Rook. The timer just goes on forever - or until the problem times out and is counted as 'skipped.'
To break out of the cycle of futility, you have to completely exit out of Tactics Trainer. My attempts to resolve the issue by reloading the page accomplished nothing except for dropping my rating by over 200 points.
The initial error may be caused by a hiccup in my connectivity for all I know. However, if it's possible to handle this error (whatever the cause) in a kinder, gentler way, I'd be very grateful the next time this doesn't happen.
Cheers

Hey, I finally caught a shot of that actual error message, when I got another error tonight. As of a few seconds ago, my rating was 1630. I fear it will drop in a few minutes when the 'skips' show up. :-(
When you click OK, another exercise window opens, but it doesn't allow you to do anything. Then when I close that window, the original window loads a new problem, which (again) doesn't work - but at least at that point I can exit. One error is usually good for 3-4 'skipped' problems. Cheers.
This was from a single error, and what really bugs me is that the last thing I saw before the error message was that I'd made the right move. As usual the new pop-up popped up, blank and useless - and I closed it and got on with business. This is a bit demoralizing. I'm trying to get ahead here.
I know it's not the end of the world, but if the system can show me an error message, why can it not discount the relevant problem??
