I'm about to quit.

chess.com lessons, which I don't understand. Playing games with bots and real people, and doing puzzles.

Learn and apply the most important principles of chess. - (core of my teaching)
Always blunder-check your moves.
Solve tactics in the right way.
Analyze your games.
Study games of strong players.
Learn how to be more psychologically resilient.
Work on your time management skills.
Get a coach if you can.
Feel your pain. I suck at chess and thought of quitting many times . Started playing puzzles here and got all the way to 1946 elo but then brain farted my way to average around 1600. My playing bots rating is not high. My rapid so far is around the 500 to 600 range , which i feel is progress. Besides puzzles i found that watching Nelsons Utube videos ( chessvibes ) to be beneficial as he explains his thought process move by move. With that i start knowing what i should be looking for, then armed with that knowledge i do an analysis of my games to see where i goof up . But without the thought process tutorials i wouldn't have a clue what the analysis meant. Hope this helps.

I'm at 100 elo
First of all, this is not an Elo. It's an online rating.
It is an online rating, but it can in fact be called an Elo. Do not act smart, you will just end up saying things like this.

But he’s right, Elo is the rating system named after Arpad Elo for FIDE, but chess.com uses the USCF rating system.
we all have that sinking feeling--- when in my case that is staying at 100 for months on end -- looking at countless lessons form this site -- that don't make any sense to improve just basically showing high forms of chess thinking (i guess ) - and playing bots always fun -- but you know your going to lose every time so that depresses you a little -- the only thing that keeps me playing -- is that a year ago i would lose 20 games in a row and not even know why i lost -- today i lose 25 games and (win five sometimes )- basically same result -- still at 100 or close to it but at least i know sometimes now why i lose a game -- and in lot of cases i know its coming i see the move before it happens -- so improvement how ever small- but improvement -- plus i get to read the fabulous forum posts here after each game i lose -so hang in there 200 is better than my 100 -- also find some thing else in your games than winning - like me i try to get to 30 moves as a goal instead of trying to win or my other one is protecting my queen and not losing it before move 20 -- that one is specialty hard for me -- but i do it about every other game -- so keep in there find your soft spot and i guess things will work out for you ----- good luck and see you on the forums

I keep losing, and I've been stuck below 200 elo for months, I'm starting to think I'm beyond help. I'm not improving, and this is taking a huge toll on my self-esteem. I don't know if I can do this anymore.
Your not the only one
